It’s getting close to the end of the Halloween season. Depending on where you live you can still get your costume on time. If not you can get some great deals and save them for next year.
Big Gals Lingerie has a nice selection of sexy plus size costumes that have been marked down up to 50% off.
Like this sexy snow white princess for $45 in 6x — some styles have limited sizes at this point.
A few years ago a woman came to our door dressed up as Velma (her child was dressed as Scooby-Doo). I have yet to see the costume in stores. It was something she put together herself.
The traditional Velma costume is:
- Dark Rim Glasses
- Orange Turtleneck
- Red Pleated Skirt
- Orange Socks
- Red Shoes
- Bob
Do you know how hard it is to find an orange(ish) cowl neck top and red pleated skirt? Well, let me tell you, it is very hard! But today when I was at LaneBryant I saw a reddish orange cowl neck dress that I think would still work perfectly for a Velma costume if there accessories are in place.
All you would need is the orange tights (We Love Color), the black bob wig (Annie’s Costumes), and the black shoes. You should be able to find some dollar store black rim glasses.
And don’t forget the Scooby-Doo stuffy (Amazon).

From now until Halloween, Buy Costumes is showcasing “5 products under $5″ five days a week. I’ve seen some really excellent deals for costumes and accessories. (obviously, they are not all plus size). If your family is on a tight budget it is worth checking out on Monday.
Instead of the usual fat rate of $5.99, Costume Craze has reduced their shipping to $2.99. But if you spend over $50 then shipping is free so you might want to combine your order with a friend.
This is for the usual UPS ground shipping but if you use a different shipping method they will give you $2.99 off that price if you spend $50.
They haven’t given an expiry date on this so it can end at any time. They were talking about keeping it up to Halloween but there are no guarantees.
Not surprisingly I haven’t been able to find a plus size Lara Croft, Tomb Raider costume. But if you are a good raider you can find some items in your closet or at your local discount store.
Personally I prefer the movie version over the game version. Mainly because one is worn by Angelina Jolie and one isn’t. But mostly because I find the movie version more sexy than slutty. There are a number of different costumes to choose from but the one at right would be the easiest (or at least cheapest) to replicate.
What’s needed:
- tight black short sleeve tee shirt or tank top
- short black khaki shorts
- utility belt / duo gun holster / two guns
(eBay)
- combat boots (Zappos)
- long braid
Here’s a little trailer to get you in the spirit:
The Twilight book series and of course the movies were more than hot last year and this year. They were scorching in fact. Of course you could dress up as one of the characters but even bigger than the characters are the groupies (yes, I can admit I’m one).
Dress up for Halloween this season as a Twilight groupie using Torrid’s and/or Hottopic’s
exclusive Twilight Saga plus size clothing and other paraphernalia.

It’s an inexpensive costume and you can wear it to the latest movie afterward:
