Buy Costumes

  • September 17, 2009 12:02 am

Buy Costumes is one of the largest Halloween costume and party suppliers on the internet. Helping them keep ahead of many others their large style selection for adult costumes, kid costumes (including plus size kids costumes!), accessories (make-up, hats, wigs, masks), party supplies, decorations, props, mascot costumes, and pet costumes. They definitely diversify. Irish-Lass-Costume

I’m not kidding when I say they have a huge selection of costumes. There are the usual pirates and vampires and witches that we all know and love but they also offer up unique costumes like the Irish Lass, Princess Leia, Gangster Moll, Lady Zorro, and many fabulous Renaissance costumes.

This year they have made searching for different styles easier by dividing them up: sexy, historical, new, couples, horror, etc. Their prices range from extremely affordable to pricey. It all depends on what you need and how long you need it to last. Obviously something you spend $80 on is going to last longer than something that only cost $25. Buy Costumes ships within the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. But read their shipping information if you live outside of the U.S.

If you are looking for a variety of options for plus size Halloween costumes then Buy Costumes is definitely worth checking out.

Annie’s Costumes is one of the most visited web sites in the world during the months of September and October. It is a family run business that has survived on the internet of ten+ years. It is a sister site to Extreme Halloween Network which hosts costume specific sites: Easter, Marti Gras, Santas, Makeup, Wigs, Luau etc. But Annies covers the whole family (including pets) at Halloween. Halloweenie

  • August 15, 2009 5:38 pm

Of all the Halloween costume providers out there I have been familiar with Halloweenie the longest. It isn’t high tech like some of the other costume sites out there but it does offer a good selection of costumes for plus size women (and men) at competitive prices. One of the things that originally drew me in was the name (how can you not smile saying it) and the fact that it does business out of Winnfield, Louisiana. Plus-Size-Maid-Costume

They always have an easy to find plus size section with over fifty styles to choose from (combination of men and women) and it is conveniently divided into women’s and men’s styles. Styles range from sexy to fairytale to scary. Women can choose from a Tavern Wench, a Pirate Beauty, a Fine Foxy Mama, a Flapper, a Hill Billy Bride or a Gothic Prom Queen as was as the traditional Vampire and Witch; while men have the option of a Plastic Surgeon, a Roman, a Hill Billy Honeymoon Groom, a Gangster, a Purple Pimp, a Pirate or a Venetian.

Not all costumes come in all sizes but they have a fair range in sizes 18 to 24 (men 48 to 52). Their affordable pricing ranges from $29 to $52. They currently only ship within the United Sates and have a good turnaround for shipping.

If you have questions they are quick to answer and most willing to please. Be sure to check out Halloweenie for your plus size costume needs.

Costume Craze

  • August 15, 2009 5:19 pm

This national costuming company has been online since 2001. They offer a fair selection of costumes for many ages as well as the accessories that help finish off the look like swords, wigs etc. Plus-Size-Geisha-Costume

The Costume Craze website is laid out very similarly to Buy Costumes. There are over 100 plus size costume styles to choose including the traditional as well as a lot of fairies. It is important to read the fine print before you order as the costume you order may not be all you see. The sizing is ambiguous — there are more than a few that are full” size which really isn’t clear.

Costume prices range from $30 to $140 and they have reasonable shipping within the United States. They do ship internationally and you can see the costs after you enter your shipping information in their shopping cart.

If you are in doubt about anything on their website or have a question about one of their costumes check out their online chat feature (upper right corner) so you don’t waste time purchasing and returning.

Fright Catalog

  • August 15, 2009 4:57 pm

This online Halloween shop has been around since the early ninties. Unfortunately they do not cater well to the plus size market – you can’t even find a category on their main page until you click on Halloween costumes. Plus-Size-Elvira-Costume

They have a small selection of just over thirty styles, half of which are for women. Many of the ones I see here are available elsewhere. On the up side though they do offer a few maternity costumes like, Devil Lady, Raggedy Ann, Pirate Woman. Their size chart covers 14 to 16 but the item descriptions for some are ambiguous while others are clearly marked 2x or 3x. Fright Catalog’s prices range from $39 – $150 but average at about $50. They will ship throughout the United States and Canada.

To save time, after you click on the plus size category under costumes click on sort by availability that way you won’t be disappointed if something isn’t available when you click on it to get further information.

Fright Catalog is not one of my top choices for plus size costume shopping but if you are still looking for the basics they may have it.

Costuming at Target

  • August 15, 2009 4:02 pm

I was all excited to see plus size costuming at Target. Their website had over five pages of costumes some of which I recognized from other costuming sites and some are new to me. I imagine with these good prices that they will go quick.
Egyptian-Queen

Some are sized individually up to 3x while others are the one size is suppose to fit 18 to 20. They are reasonably priced. The most expensive was the Egyptian Queen Costume for $95.99 you see here in sizes queen, 2x and 3x.

Other great costumes include Night Nurse Nora (up to 3x for $51.99), I Love Lucy (queen for $41.99), Disco Diva (queen for $41.99) and a pirate mate (2x for $39.99).

Big Gals Lingerie

  • August 15, 2009 12:01 am

With a title like that you expect a lot of lingerie. They do definitely have that but they also offer a lot of costumes. Their carry the usual sex kitten costumes year round but come Halloween they offer more traditional costumes like: Michael Jackson (queen of pop), pimpets, devils, witches, fairies, fairytale beauties, super heroes, cops, nurses, pirates, retro chicks, naughty school girls, and more.

My absolute favorites: Wonder Girl, Super Girl, Star Princess, Paris in Jail, Fancy Mermaid, Queen of Nile, and Twinkler Tinker Bell.

Big Gals Lingerie has pre made and made to order costumes. Their made to order take a few weeks and are available in sizes 1x to 12. They are reasonably priced from $59 to $175 depending on style.
